Where do I start the prices of food are ridiculous. I dont mind spending money on quality food but when it comes out and the chicken carbonara $34 is greener then the grass after 100mm of rain with the amount of spring onions in it and small out of chicken and pasta. The seafood platter $39 was all frozen with 1 scallop 2 calamari rings 2 prawn cutlet, 1 whiting fillet and 2 crab sticks and salad was almost none existent with a slice of cucumber slice of tomatoe half egg and 2 cubes of potatoe salad with bit of cheese. And a kids fish and chips $10 which was the best valve for money on table by far. And a schooner of beer with glass of wine total of $103. Will not be back

What a lovely old pub with great food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Lots of history here and really lovely old school dinning room. There is a pool table next to a big outdoor beer garden and smoking area. They have happy hour on a Friday afternoon. The hotel is a really nice old building with verandah around the outside with nice places to sit. They also have take away alcohol specials.

Went for dinner and the chicken Kiev we got was absolutely raw in the middle,.disgusting. no refund was given it was just deep fried and given back, obviously we didn't eat it. Way too expensive for what we got. Raw chicken can be dangerous especially to children. Not recommended.

We made use of the "free camping" area across the road for the night and had dinner here. The staff are very friendly - including the Publican, the food delicious and the Locals more than happy to have a friendly conversation - we had a great night - highly recommended.

We camped here for the night with our tent because we were in the area. We arrived after dark, and everyone working behind the bar was extremely friendly. Showed us around the place, were super welcoming too. We sadly couldn’t eat because the kitchen was closing yesterday night and we were too early for breakfast. If we’re in the area again we will stay here for sure and enjoy some food too. Thank you so much guys!

Visited while passing through on a weekend and only because the pub on the highway itself was displaying a notice that their kitchen was not functioning. The venue is distinctly old and dated, as any "historical" building is likely to be. It's a shame though that they haven't brought at least some of their general functionality into the 21st century. On the day we visited the great Australian weather was putting on a full show of force with a steaming hot day. The inside dining area was hot and humid. The venue lacked air-conditioning and the ceiling fans were not running. The staff turned them on at request but they did nothing to move the air around, and served only to dislodge dust and the standard aroma of old buildings. The food, as evidenced by the "lunch size" Chicken Parmigiana pictured was disappointing in the least. The chicken schnitzel, was as big as 3 chips. An almost laughable experience for the prices. The service was very slow, with a single person manning the bar and taking restaurant orders. The kitchen did manage to get the food out together so the problems appear to be tied purely to the business decision makers. All patrons left feeling disappointed with no real desire to return which is sad when character locations such as this rely on either word of mouth recommendations, or more commonly these days reviews such as this.

Visited for lunch based on recommendation old pub. Not much atmosphere. Very ordinary food, none of the dishes stood out and fries were uncooked, Friendly staff, service a bit slow. Had live music going which was nice. Small tap list. Seemed popular but not sure why?

The front end of our country pub camping had us staying here for a night across the road. We ventured into the old pub at sunset and enjoyed a night of live music great drinks and laughs with the locals . The meal was fabulous, a perfectly cooked tomahawk steak for us to share represented brilliant value and didn’t disappoint! Recommended to anyone travelling through this tiny town on their north or south.

Refused to serve a responsible adult (18) with a 16 year old, who he is guardian of for next two days while in the town, for a meal. No one was drinking. No one was rowdy. Carl the manager said in a phone call he just did not want to serve them. Carl the manager needs to learn the law…. poor form. Avoid this place as Carl may discriminate against you also and “just not want to serve” you. Must say though reading the below reviews Carl may have done the boys a favour because they ended up with great food at the other pub in town.

Radio left on in Office. All we could here was the radio going. I take that back. It was occasionally drowned out by the trains. Staff were lovely but that was spoilt by the radio. Couldn't sleep. Not happy!

Lovely old Queenslander hotel that is located near the Bruce highway in Tairo. Lots of old details and pictures. Serving lunches and dinners with a good outside area at the back with a playground and a pool table. Worth a visit on your way through.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ROAD TRAVELLERS!! Our experience regarding this pub was just fantastic. We were doing a trip over Australia with our van, and looking for a cheap caravan camping for taking the night. This pub offers totally free a camping site for travelers on the road to rest at night. We drank some beer with the locals, spent a lot of time talking about road adventures, and tried their fantastic home made Apple Pie. They also offer the travelers a restroom with a shower (also free of charge ☺️), and even a toilet outside the bar where you can go at any time in the night. To sum up, the best choice to spend the night if you are in a road trip with your van.

After a long 12hr drive we stopped for dinner we ordered 2 chicken snit chips and salad and hands down was the best we have ever had we also got the rib fillet and again was cooked right and tender as hell. The prices are cheap as and the staff where awesome 👌 👏 👍 we will be back and will be sure to let family know to stop in as we will be back again.

Country pub with charm. We stopped for lunch. Great place. Not on the main highway, so it's quieter. They also offer free camping for travellers in the area, what we highly support, even if we didn't stay for the night!

A few years on, it is just as wonderful or even better Love the Saturday music If you are looking for a great place to go on a weekend just come to the hideaway. Can’t think of a better place to go. Love the atmosphere, Col and his staff are all so welcoming. Food is great and large portions not sure regarding the triangles of bread and butter but guess it is just and extra old fashioned touch. Love visiting and will return many times

9 of us had a wonderful lunch, and we all ordered something different, and it was hot and tasty . If you're ever in the area and want a hot meal, drop in, and you won't be disappointed.

5 of us visited 2 had steak sandwich..the raw onion isn't a good thing ..Fried onion on a burger or toasted sandwich is much better .The bread not toasted very well and the steak was a bit ordinary. 2 had Lamb roast..roasted potatoes were raw inside ...meat tough and tiny amount of mint gel 1 had salmon. This was a great meal Ww were looking forward to sitting outside but sadly the rain put a stop to that. Back area a good spot for anyone with dogs . Atmosphere inside would of been nicer if fire was going . It was a cool day . Just a suggestion. Staff friendly .
