Would I come back here? . . . Yes. The food was good portions, the staff were friendly and there was a good vibe amongst the restaurant patrons. We learnt a lot about the history of the place and it is a lovely building. I would recommend people come here. The Last Duel beer was delicious and there's Happy Hour 4pm or maybe 5pm to 6pm, forget exactly which time. So yeah, good deal!

Wonderful pub with great atmosphere, attentive staff and friendly locals. DO NOT miss this pub if visiting Wellington. Opens at 4pm. Good Guiness too.

Well preserved real-wood antique tavern. Excellent service and food. Perfect for gatherings and card games with mates. Must check out their daily special menu. A must-visit spot in Wellington.

top meal, well priced, easy parking, friendly people, historic pub. Better food and atmosphere than the 2 Newcastle pubs I went to the week before, so a pleasant surprise.

This is such a popular rating and drinking hole for both locals and visitors. The staff are totally welcoming, the atmosphere is very friendly and the food is great and plentiful. We went back the following night because we enjoyed it so much.

This is a very friendly establishment and worth a visit if you're in Wellington, NSW. It's apparently one of the oldest licensed pubs north of Blue Mountains. Very friendly staff.

The history of this building (built 1841) can be seen throughout the interior. Beautiful interior, very friendly staff and excellent prices. This is a wonderful kept secret and if you are ever passing through or even if you live in the area and haven't been, I highly recommend this spot.

The history of the old pub is something out of a documentary and I love it. The Historic Lion of Waterloo is believed to be the oldest licensed hotel west of the Blue Mountains that is still standing. Dating back to 1841. Miners, settlers, station hands and coaches all used to stop at this location. Some history books have also said that it is the location of our countries last gun duel just outside of its doors. The food serving sizes are huge and the quality is just as great. Ranging from a classic schnitty, to a giant mixed grill, even the kids meals are so much that my 12 year old had leftovers to take home. The interior of the pub still holds up its classic looks from the days of old, from the giant chandelier to the fireplace that gets going through winter, the classic bar and a lovely side beer garden and a nice split dining area.

Our meal tonight was really terrible. Our meals took over an hour to arrive. Both steaks were way over well done. We ordered medium. I only gave it two stars as our son liked his vege pasta.

Must go when visiting Wello. A local told us not to tell anyone about this hidden gem on the other side of the bridge of this lovely town...but couldn't help leaving a well deserved good review 👏.

Kindof an odd place...sortof on the edge of town...we walked in and it was a bar...wasn't sure we were even in the right place and had to ask what we were supposed to do, but seating is in back, seat yourself. Service was great, and food was fantastic.

Great old pub. Bar staff are friendly and helpful and the food although only served a few nights a week was brilliant! No gaming hence plenty of time chatting to the locals. Well managed with a great small town atmosphere.

Excellent food, staff are friendly. The history in this pub is awesome. It was a shame I found this place on the last night in town.

Didn't make it past the door - we had a 4.5 month puppy spoodle and were met at the door and told in unfriendly terms that dogs were not welcome as they serve food. It was 4:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant didn't open until 6pm. An option to have a quick drink while keeping the pup out the front to get a chance to check out the place would have been appreciated - but not interested. Just given the bum's rush - obviously not a dog lover. Would not recommend or return.

Built in 1841, the Lion of Waterloo is the oldest operating Tavern west of the Blue Mountains. It was once a passenger stop for Cobb & Co. Today it is nestled in a suburban street amongst residential houses. It has been well maintained with the many relics and history on the walls. It is cozy and oozes old world charm. The staff and patrons were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately the kitchen was not operating so no meals were on offer but the beer and company was excellent.

Beautiful family style Hotel, with great hosts. Feed was fantastic and the vibe was great, with friendly locals popping in and the fireplace in the background. A mix of traditional style with modern technology hidden well in the background to have a wonderful warm feel. Planning the next trip already...

A really nice pub. Good food and very friendly staff. Also, no pokies, no Keno, no TAB and no annoyingly loud music. Excellent beer too.
