Whether it’s the diverse menu, wide ranging tap beer or wonderful staff (particularly “The Shaggettes”), I love everything The Lucky Shag has to offer. But what I relish most about this venue is its location - a stroll away from the CBD and on the edge of the magnificent Swan River. Hint: the best time to go is just as the sun goes down. Sitting on the veranda, listening to some groovy live music and enjoying dinner….there’s not much in life that I enjoy more. My only “gripe” is that being from Sydney, I don’t get to visit as much as I’d like. However, considering I’ve been going there since 2009, I’d like to believe I’m in a good place to share my experiences. If you’re a seasoned visitor or new to the city, a visit to Perth isn’t complete without a drink at “The Shag”. Don’t forget to enquire about their “merch” either,

We had a lovely meal at The Lucky Shag lake side restaurant. The views alone are spectacular, with stunning scenery all round. It’s centrally located and close by all of the great museums of Perth and is a great place to catch a bite to eat before heading off from the dock on a tour of the bay, around the city or on a trip to one of the many island tours on offer. The splice cocktail has my heart, I think in the Perth heat I could down at least five of them in one sitting which is dangerous. We did get three meals for a reasonable price and they were tasty and went down a treat. There’s sports on every TV too so if you’re a big time sports fan you’ll love catching the footy, cricket or even golf on the harbour. We visited for lunch on a weekday so there was not a lot of foot traffic through the area and yet the bar indoors and outdoors was still buzzing with life. If you’re going in the evening though I’d recommend booking a table outside because it’s no doubt a hot spot likely to get busy quick.

Was honestly so disappointed with the food. The first photo was the beef strips salad, this without the rice was $24 and honestly looked like a minute steak sliced on a bed of salad. It was also served with a sauce, which was no more than what felt like less than a tablespoon. The second photo is the grilled octopus, which was also disappointing after spending $29. It seems all the portion sizes have shrunk significantly. Does not feel like you’re getting what you pay for.

Very very disappointed. Last night a group of us came to the lucky shag for a send off celebration. We had a reservation and unfortunately the service was appalling. We were told we could order from the barcode on the table which we did only to wait 50 minutes for our drinks. At about 30 minutes wait, one waitress came to us and said she would sort it out and still we waited another 20/25 minutes. When I went to the bar to show the bar tender my receipt for my drinks and the time they were ordered he was rude and said they were busy and wait another 5 minutes. I have visited this venue multiple times over the years and never had such terrible service. Our whole table was extremely disappointed and after waiting nearly an hour for our drinks we all left.

This is a great session spot and with enough screens you won't miss the game if you are a sports fan. Food can be hit or miss but the view and the vibe more than makes up for it.

This is a great fun restaurant. In spite of its rather risque name, there is no connection with the sex industry! Not exactly haute cuisine but the location is superb day or night, the view across the river is superb. Do use sun-block if you are sitting outside on a clear day. We will be back!

This is a great bar in the evening with a lively and fun atmosphere. The terrace out the back has a large number of tables and the bar is large making service fast. I managed to order a couple of snacking dishes before the kitchen closed for the evening and both arrived quickly and were sizeable for the price. The bar staff were helpful in recommending beers and it was a great touch having TV screens in the toilets so you don’t miss out on the sport! Great bar and I’ll certainly be returning.

The nasi goreng was delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient. It was a quiet, waterside location for breakfast this morning.

Spent around $205 on food alone and with that I waited 40 minutes for half the tables food and another 20 for my own lamb shank. There was a fault with every dish. The Nasi goreng the rice was dry as hell. The pork ribs were overly cooked to the point that there was no meat on any bones. The steak was cooked incorrectly and really need to check your char grill. Honestly won’t be coming here again but hope this find the management team and that they improve the experience for others and perfect the menu. Perfect location just poor food

Somewhat disappointed as I have been here before with my family and they were very excited to return. I booked a table for 6pm for six people. The table reservation card clearly had my name on it and that we had the table till 8pm. On our arrival I was promptly told by bar staff that they would closing soon and to get our food orders in quickly - we could have the table for one hour. I explained that we had a reservation and that is not what my confirmation email said. Alas we carried on ordering as clearly the girlie behind the bar didn’t care. Food was okay at best, not quite as delicious as I remember it to be but that could also be the sour taste left in my mouth after dealing with the staff. Probably will not be in a hurry to return.

Not sure what is happening here.......... food was very ordinary given the pubs popularity over many years. If you want to charge city prices, then take a look at whats available all around you and aim to do better.

It took 20 minutes to get the “loaded” potato skins. They were barely sprinkled with Bacon Cheese and Sour Cream for $18 and there was literally 3 of them. Not even nice crunchy goodness. It’s Sunday afternoon and there is about 1/3 occupancy and most of those people aren’t ordering food. Great location. Ridiculous food offering that looked like it was reheated from the lunch rush. Not an enticing reason to head to the city. Go elsewhere unless you just want beer.

I’m delighted to share my great experience at The LUCKY SHAG WATERFRONT BAR, today. The food and drinks are amazing. The ambience was good with live music! The staff is very friendly and polite love to serve their valuable clients with a sweet smile on their face! No hesitation to refer & revisit THE LUCKy SHAG WATERFRONT BAR in future again & again!

I have been here many times. I enjoy the view and the atmosphere. But being single I sit alone. There is only bar service. I get up for my second beer and turn around and the last half of my food has been cleared. The staff were apologetic but had no resolve to what I am supposed to do when I want another beer. I told them from now on I will ask a server to sit a table until I get back. Bah! An issue with the barbaric bar service policy across Australia. What brought this on. Everyone running out the door without paying?

I had a drink of water and talked to peeps. The young man at the bar has very good people skills. Matt and Vic called a taxi for me and I went on my Berry way home. For the record I was an hour early. ❤️🙋‍♀️

Had lunch here one warm day. The food was not of a very high standard. The calamari was awful. Definitely frozen supermarket packet as there was very little meat under the batter. Chips were average. Pizza selection limited and not very inviting. Tasted just ok. Prices were not justified for the quality of food. Definite no love in this kitchen. Won’t be going back any time soon.

Great location, tasty food. Just don't enjoy the whole post covid scan to order. No customer service. Everything feels like a fast food chain these days.

Great beer selection NRL on the big screen and great service. However the steak sandwich was a bit lackluster for the price of chewy steak with tomatoes and onion and the "crisps" were questionable. I understand the kitchen was under renovation so the review is still high. But still a bit pricey for what I received. Other than that great venue and hope to come again with the renoed kitchen

Excellent spot on the waterfront. Great choices of beer on the pumps, great looking menu too. I never had any food but it looked good as it was going past to other people. Friendly staff. Fast service.

Came in today for a family lunch, service and food was excellent. My dad is the fussiest boomer in the world and he loved his perfectly cooked steak. Servings were great sizes and pizzas were incredible. Fast service considering fairly busy, and even a cocktail was made very quickly. 5 stars all round, new favourite spot for sure !

Came in mid morning and had no issues with finding a table. It was packed as we left and for a good reason! The food was delicious and had prompt service letting us know when the kitchen was about to close their breakfast service so we could be directed to their lunch menu. The chilli mussels were great and the firecracker wings tasted amazing as well! Priced reasonably. Would go again!

Beautiful outlook, great menu and vibe. It’s busy but relaxed with friendly staff. We ducked in for a quick bite between lunch and dinner. The cheese bread looked better but my partner was too hungry to wait lol
