We celebrated my son's birthday at the Savvy Squire last night, and highly recommend it. The staff were professional and friendly; food service was first-rate. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We'll certainly be returning!

We always come to The Savvy Squire when we go up to Mooloolaba, we have always found the food to be very good with reasonable prices, friendly staff. Its a great spot to relax on the deck overlooking the Mooloolah River enjoying some icy cold lagers. Edit: 26/4/2022 We last visited the Savvy Squire a year ago and I gave it a 5 star review. We were looking forward to getting the Ploughman's Platter again as it was really great last visit. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed, as the photos show, there is quite a difference between the last platter we got and this one, sort of looks like someone went to Coles to grab the items to make it. The deck is still a great place to sit and enjoy the views and the waitress that served us was friendly. I will return again and see how it is next time. Edit: Oct 2023 Back again to enjoy the view, food was good and beers were nice and cold, staff were friendly! 🙂 🦐 🍟

Was a very disappointing experience. Booked lunch for my 50th birthday with family (table of 8). The view was lovely overlooking the water and the cocktails were delicious but other than that it was a big let down. Table booked for 8, was only set for 7 and while they dragged a chair over no cutlery was provided for the extra chair so we had to request it. Half our table ordered steaks and every single steak was overcooked. My medium steak was well done (no pink at all - just grey meat). The southern chicken burger was not really southern just a breaded chicken that was underwhelming. Other meals were also disappointing - pork belly was not crisp and fat had not been rendered and beef ribs tasted nice but were very fatty. To add a little bit of cherry on top of the disappointing meal my husband asked the wait staff if he could order a dessert and have them put candles on it to be delivered to me and was told to order on the app and they will “try” to intercept it on its way out to the table. It was like “that’s not my job” response. We stayed in Mooloolaba for a week of birthday celebrations and my husband and I ate at many places but The Savvy Squire was by far was the worst and does not live up to the level of food and service associated with the “James Squire” name that we are used to. I won’t be back - too many other good restaurants to go to in Mooloolaba.

This place has a great atmosphere and really good food. Only thing is they took the most delicious item off the menu. The garlic butter. The Review Queen says... Bring Back The Garlic Butter! Update 16/9/21. We went again. I mucked up the booking time and they went out of their way to accommodate. They didn't know who I was, so that's their customer service. We had a problem with our meal but it was rectified quickly. 95% of our encounters with staff were lovely and we spoke with management about the other 5%. Problem is, now they are fully aware of who I am 😆

The Chef here knows how to cook Barramundi. Best meal in Oz so far (& have visited Melbourne & Cairns). Fautless. Beautifully cooked with crispy skin, with a lovely lemon sauce, potatoes & broccolini. Only marked service low, (not a reflection of staff service), as order at the bar or via app from scanning qr code on tables, tremendously busy on a Sat night.

The Brooklyn pizza barely had any flavour , most just cheese , cocktails took 15 minutes to arrive . Our mains took 70 minutes to arrive . The 300 gram rump cooked medium rare arrive on my table barely warm . Hot style fried chicken wings were too sour . First time to the savvy squire . It was a Friday night and the restaurant was only at half capacity.

Thanks Ella and Dave! Our daughter had a fabulous 21st birthday party in the upstairs Riverside room that we hired out for our private function. It is such a beautiful setting with views over the canal. Everything was so easy and hassle free, the food was delicious and the bar service was great, the bartenders were so friendly and helpful. We appreciate how easy made it all for us and accommodated all our needs.. We danced the night away - it was great! Thank you!!

Super average food. One of our pizzas looked like it came out of a frozen box. Took nearly an hour to come out. $25. How. Don’t come here for a good pub feed you’ll be disappointed.

Seems like the kitchen was overwhelmed today. It took an Hour for our meals to arrive. Not sure if I want to wait that long for dessert. My steak was rushed a little, charred on the outside and undercooked in the middle (Medium Well) Could have done with greater staffing numbers considering the wait and bar staff doing dual roles and the heavily pregnant restaurant manager having to pitch in as well.

Savvy squire is in a prime location on the water front. I odered the balmain bug tarcos, they are a cold tarco but the balmain bugs are super fresh. For a main i had the lamb shank, its quiet a big serving, the lamb falls off the bone, the sauce is rich and it really Compliments the meal. I had a Cosmopolitan. It was quiet nice too. The staff are friendly. Would love to go back and try other things on the NEW MENU!

Nice ambience and great location. Food selection was pretty decent with the pizzas being particularly good (but we don't drink so can't comment on the 'beverages' menu). The deck outside looks like it would be amazing on a sunny day (we were there for dinner). Worth a drop in if you are in the area.

Just came on a trip to Australia. I was staying up on the Sunshine Coast for the week and decided to stop at the Savvy Squire for lunch. I was really impressed with the food and the service. The chicken wings and pizza really hit the spot! The bartender was super helpful and friendly, even chatting with me for a minute about video games, which was really cool. I will definitely come back here when I come around next!

It was a busy lunch. Rapid service. We had a dozen samurai oysters, quite nice. Fun guy pizza, good pizza base, it was a bit overcooked, a lot of mushroom juice made the base soggy. Nice salad, just I just don't understand why the bottoms of the salad were served. Barramundi was ok.

I ordered starter chicken wings and salt & pepper calamari and it took 59 minutes for my order to arrive. Order was placed at 1:25pm the food arrived at 2:54pm. It wasn’t even very busy since it was a public holiday and not a lot of people were dining. Attached receipt for reference. Never going back to this restaurant.

Enjoyed a nice lunch with my wife and our 2 dogs today. Lovely view of the river, great food, enjoyed a few plates including a delicious bucket of Mooloolaba prawns. Dog friendly, on the outside deck- the best part of the pub! A friendly staff member came over with a bowl of water for each of our dogs. Next time we visit the area from Brisbane will definitely visit!

Big pub with a big range of beers and an extensive menu. Only drinks this time around, but we will call again and dine and maybe will up the rating. Lovely views over the river and for watching the Whaling boats come and go.

Best place in Mooloolaba for a feed or drinks!! Scrumptious cocktails, delicious meals and the best staff on the coast! Gets busy during the weekends, so best to book to avoid disappointment! They have seafood, pizzas, traditional pub food, entrees, mains and desserts. Extensive range of liquor, with great cocktails, beer and ginger beer. Beautiful views of the river from the deck, cute undercover beer garden, sports bar with TVs, and pool tables, plus a gaming room with around 40 machines. Also has several function spaces downstairs and exclusive function spaces upstairs. This place has it all!!! They even have colouring for the kids near the front desk, to keep them busy while you try out some of the cocktails. Just love this place!!!

Amazing food!!! We ate hours ago and are still talking about how great it was! The arancini and Korean wings were the stars of the show and the fish and chips were the best we have had in Mooloolaba so far! We will definitely be back!

A big open area pub and we went there for dinner and a couple of drinks. We ended up having the seafood platter which was reasonable price and plenty for 2, tasting delicious. I would love to try this in the daytime for the views and sit outside as I imagine would look lovely 😄. The night we went it wasn’t really busy and so service was as expected.
