While we were in Port Fairy we had dinner here on a Tuesday night. The meals were great particularly the steak. One of the best steaks I have eaten. What made it even better was that the staff made us feel super welcome, particularly my 10 month old.
So good we went back again on the Thursday. Will visit again when in Port Fairy.

Went to the bistro. Waited 1hr 15min for food. We weren’t told there would be a wait or anything, was not overly busy.
Food was good when it finally came out. (And no apologies for the wait!!)
UPDATE!!!- Oh got the reply stating they were busy- lo and behold it’s the Melbourne cup long weekend. Blind Freddy would know it will be busy!!!!

We had dinner at this hotel two nights while in Port Fairy. The food was very good with a wide variety of choices. Drinks were at a reasonable price. The staff were efficient and friendly. Seating at tables was comfortable and we had 3 generations at the table.

We dined here and the food was excellent, the steak was cooked exactly how we ordered. The tomahawk being 900gm was exceptional value for $65 with four sides. The dinning room was nicely lit and far enough away from the live band that we were not affected and could enjoy the music after dinner. Would definitely recommend.

We called the waiter over to ask where our meals were? He went to check and asked what we had ordered obviously they’d lost or meals. After waiting well over an hour for our meals (2 couples) only two meals came out together then another 15 minutes later the other two meals. We could even eat our meals together. |A lady come over and apologised and offered us a free drink. This is the second time I have been here and would not go again as both times have been disappointing. It’s just a good thing the company was so good |I dine out a lot and would not recommend at all.

Very enjoyable experience from start to finish.|Starting with the friendly waitress who looked after us, to the traditional decor filled with Christmas decorations. But most of all we enjoyed our mussels and hamburger meals. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Very bad experience . Was to meet people at the pub who changed their mind . Sat at a table bought a beer . No reserve sign and or wait to be seated sign. Guy came over clearly did want me sitting at that table and tried to move me to the awful room at the back and to sit on a table with people I did not know. . Finished the beer outside in 36C and left . woeful unfriendly pub.
Visit hundreds of pubs in me time and this was the worst experience and the only one I have given a poor rating..
Clearly a management issue.

This place is a joke. Understaffed and unable to service anyone - food or drinks - during high season. There are staff everywhere but no food and no drinks. NO NOT COME HERE - this place sucks. There are lots of really good places in Port Fairy - this is NOT one of them.

The overall experience was good. The location is excellent (smack in the middle of the town centre with lots of restaurants & cafes nearby). The staff were friendly and the rooms cosy & tidy.
However, it wasn't made clear at the time of the booking that the bathrooms were shared on the floor and there were instances when the supplies ran out and weren't refilled on a regular basis. Hence, room for improvement in the last 2 points.

Sat in the front bar for the footy. The meals were very average (if not poor) compared to the other pubs in town. It was not very busy, which turned out to be no surprise. We ordered a few rounds of Guinness which turned out to be flat, and when we asked the bartender about it he said this is how it should be.
The fire was barely burning and the front bar was quite cold, we ended up trying to restart it because the bartender seemed to have no interest despite having no other customers to serve.
When broaching this with management they said there weren't enough people in the bar to worry about firing it up. Being so early in the night (7.30pm) I was extremely disappointed. It was freezing!
Used to be a hit. Will not be returning.

Recently, we held my fathers wake in the public bar where he had many a colourful time, and it was incredibly disappointing. The plans I made with the manager fell on deaf ears, and the platters were disgusting. Over cooked sausage rolls, stale sandwiches, and blah service! No speakers for music, we were shoved down the end where all the gambling TV's were blaring and no opportunity to display photos of our Dad on the screen. All this for $1000. I requested to see the Manager to find out what happened, and she was nowhere to be found. If you couldn't give what I asked for, then say NO! It's too late to find out at the wake for a man I adored that it couldn't be done as I requested.

Really awful. Waited 110 minutes - yes 1 hour and 50 mins - for our food. We have kids and they didnt care at all or offer us any solutions. DO NOT COME HERE - there are lots of other choices.

Port Fairy festival went to the pub had crap experience yesterday. Returned today another crap experience poorly . Asked to move a table only to be taken to the back crap room of the pub to be seated with a group I did not know. Ended up finishing my beer outside in 36C . Had music but very few patrons. I rate worst pub in Victoria. Go to the Oak and Anchor.

Popped in for lunch despite the bad reviews. Should have listened to the reviews.
Slow service is clearly a repeat issue here. On a reasonably quiet day we waited 50 minutes for entrees. Even then only 2 of 4 entrees arrived. The others arrived after the first 2 had finished. We asked about our food 3 times over the course of the meal, no apology or care shown. It's a shame as the actual food was decent (seafood platter was pretty average but everything else was good).
Definitely wouldn't return.

Ordering the salmon I was horrified first at the size of fish for the price and the boring salad. And 3 pieces of cold cooked potatoes. Very disappointed would not recommend 😥

Just came here for a parma. Chips were cold, chicken was hard and dry (parmas were clearly made in a batch some time before and left in a warmer), salt and pepper dispensers were empty. Nice friendly service, but disappointing food.

I felt I was cheated in this property. I had booked the room in advance paying a premium for an upgrade. I had an expectation of a comfortable nights sleep. Instead it was as if I was in the middle of the dance floor music was so loud in my room. I should have been advised when I made the booking and before I checked in. I was unable to complain as the internal doors in the property were locked and there were no personnel on the site in the morning when we left.|There were no fire safety instructions in the bedroom. There was a loud sound all night of a refrigeration unit outside our room. Housekeeping was poor, drawers were not cleaned and cobwebs at windows.

Having been here before we expected the meals to be as good as before, sadly disappointed. 3 of us had Parmas , all with soggy white crumbs on the bottom and very watery. As a chef myself I would expect the chef would know how to cook a Parma correctly.

Had the pleasure of gigging at this hotel last Saturday and it was really impressive! Bigger than it looks with quite a few well stocked bars multiple bistros and an excellent outdoor marquee and live band stage (see photos) Jodi looked after us very well she and her friendly staff made us feel really at home after the 3.5 hour drive to get there. Soundcheck then meals the calamari + salad was a winner and COP THIS BAND went onstage at 8 pm we had a ball with the enthusiasm
of the locals partying away on the dancefloor till late. Thanks for having us Jodi and crew you guys are amazing‼️🎤🎸🥁🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had dinner with my 3 kids on Easter Mon in the evening. Food was average at best which is unusual for standard pub fare in Aus these days. Kids turned their noses up at the kids meals which were mostly a plate of chips for 12.50 each. Note: kids older than toddlers want more than just chips. My main (ginger beef stir fry) was uninspiring and overpriced for what it was. On top of this disappointment we had to cop the pub hol surcharge which isn’t the fault of the venue but just meant our already disappointing meals and drinks cost way more than they should.

Dinner was underwhelming and many difficulties with the order. 2 chicken schnitzels (one with garlic prawn sauce) were ordered, but 2 beef schnitzels were brought out. When they were swapped for chicken schnitzels, you could tell they had been cooked from frozen due to the crumb. One of the chicken beasts was also not cooked through and was pink. A garlic butter sauce (not prawn as ordered) was also brought out, which we were then asked that we had to pay extra for. Will not be returning here unfortunately.

Definitely enjoyed our meals. The calamari was so fresh and well cooked.
Salad was fresh as well. The restaurant was clean and tidy.
I think that if staff want to be looking on their phones, do it out of sight of patrons, it not a good look 🤔

Chilled venue. We ate at the bistro & we ordered the honey soy chicken wings. They were disappointing and tasteless despite being an awesome size!

Booked for a meal and paid in advance. We then waited for 2hrs for our meals.|If a restaurant can’t server its capacity in a timely manner you should not fill it.|Expect long waits for average pub food.

As always, a delicious meal. The staff are so friendly and there's a really nice and relaxed atmosphere. Excellent service and scrumptious food in comfortable surroundings - what more could you want! We will certainly be back - it's the best pub in town!

A casual saturday lunch over the kings birthday long weekend after visiting the nearby farmers market.
A great venue located in the heart of town that caters for everyone.
Can't fault the service or the food to be honest....traditional Aussie pub fare that was served in a timely manner and was delicious!
If you're after tasty pub meals, cold beers and good friendly service you can't go wrong here.
Wish we had a pub like this one back home!
