Very friendly staff. A breath of fresh air actually! Nothing was a problem for this lovely young female hostess. She was a credit to her employer / the publican / the respective owners. Polite, attentive, non- intrusive, professional & very engaging.I have only frequented this pub on a few occasions in the past, so essentially, I had nothing solid with which to compare it to. The premises itself has recently undergone extensive renovations & similarly therefore, it was truly an unexpected but very welcome surge of relief & contentment to be able to relax & unwind in such a clean, comfortable, respectful, welcoming, warm environment, especially after the more punitive, dragonian, restrictive type of existence we have all been forced to endure of late . Whatever the reason, valid or invalid, no one can in all fairness, deny the somewhat confrontational, divisive, austere energy, intruding on one's personal space in recent times. The decor was appropriately sombre, yet not suffocating or all - consuming; providing just the right composition of natural light with the more exclusive, elusive smudge of darkness, no doubt (representing the ever present veil of anonymity & intrigue). Bossting an outstanding location, right in the heart of Sydney's CBD, this little Den of Entertainment & Iniquity" is your non- exclusive home away from home, your modern, tasteful, well appointed, uncomplicated home base , designed for essential grounding & reconnecting with self. The Surrey Hotel as it is often fondly referred to by the locals, is spacious, well appointed, affordable, atmospheric & thoroughly entertaining ....! ( provided one is winning naturally ...!). The ambience is second to none. I was unashamedly singing away to all the songs in the Surrey's' background music cache without a care in the world as to how unfortunate I might sound, or who might be listening or how harshly they may be judging, instead I just sang to my heart's content ...& most importantly of all ... I had fun ....Go, enjoy, let go ....!!

This pub is built around gambling and pokies. There is no normal inside pub area except a beer garden. I expect a normal pub, but all this pub consists of is a beer garden and pokie room.

This is one of the most boring pubs in the world. The carpet is fake grass. It’s quite dead. Try somewhere else first. Go here only if you’re desperate.

Surrey hotel has a double facing urinal, so you can pee back to back with your best bud and enjoy a chat over the shoulder whilst heaving out the minerals not needed from the delicious drinks anymore. 9 times out of 10 it'll just be someone you don't know peeing behind your back though.

Location, location, location. And you can have any type of food you want so long as it's middle eastern. Just jokes, I've never eaten here but I know it's under new management and deserves another visit. And the local middle eastern is second to none.

Good place spend few hours a day. Try luck at pokies. Air condition at this pub shocking experince.3 times i caught flu in this place. Stuff excellent except for one asian lady name somni horrible person. If you winning at the pokies she will stand right behind you shes expecting tip from your winnings. I think owner doesnt pay her enough on waged.

Good Bottleshop. Schooners are $6.70 at the bar. 17 Poker Machines. ATM. 2 Tab Machines. On a busy traffic corner. Plenty of tables & chairs available.

Firstly, Security x 3 has asked to see my bag after only being in the bottle shop for under 5 minutes. I was with a work colleague whom never came back to my place for dinner again. 🤨
Secondly security has asked for my i.d upon arrival and proceeded to deny my entry for reason being " I just can't let you in'. The time was 2:29 a.m December on a Saturday morning on a 30 degree evening

Avoid this pub! Its got to be the worst pub i've been to, from the confronting stale beer smell on entry to the grubby walls and worn out fixtures. Zero atmosphere, it just feels depressing and not a place you would want to spend any time in. If you are in the area and looking for a beer then try the Norfolk Pub just down the road, its a great pub with good atmosphere and a cracking beer garden out the back.
