What a great experience to be able to have a gluten free meal and not be concerned about cross contamination as a diagnosed coeliac disease

We had the Victoria Hotel restaurant (not bistro) recommended to us as a good dining option. The setting and staff are fine - the food for the price however, is poor. A beautiful cut of eye fillet was delicious (but small) was accompanied by extremely average grey, grainy mash and limp, uninspiring greens. No choice of sauce, just a runny, non-descript gravy. The Vegetarian hot pot was a Uni student meal when all you have is a couple of veggies, some rice and curry powder in the pantry. Not worthy of the $26 price. 4 beers on tap is pretty behind the times too and 1 of these 2 stars is for the free pool in the bar.

We dined here as one family member has Coeliac. Everyone loved their meals. The portions were huge so arrive hungry! The fish batter was so crispy. Housemade garlic bread was delicious. We were too full to enjoy desserts so will have to go again to enjoy. Thanks to The Vic Hotel for having a fully g-f kitchen! Nice and cosy with the fire going on a cold night outside.

We arrived just before 6pm. We were given menus and ordered shortly after. Our meals arrived by 6:10pm. The food was delicious with generous portions. Definitely happy to return

Travelled to Port Fairy for a week, the menu is all gluten free, one of our party is a coeliac so it was nice for her to be able to choose anything on the menu and not have to worry about cross contamination was great, she really enjoyed her parma.

This is a fantastic restaurant. Nice and new decor. Clean. I liked the ambient music. Carterd kids menu. Great place for gluten free too! Coeliac heaven.

The whole menu is gluten free. Chicken Parma, pasta, bread, all of it is awful. We had a group of 8 open minded people and left most of it behind. Would be willing to retry if the gluten free co potent is dropped as the outside area is good for kids.

The Victoria Hotel was a real winner! The lady behind the bar gave great country hospitality, the beer was cold, the food was hot & your typical pub fare - the schnitzel was huge and juicy. We will be back next time we pass through.

The food was absolutely amazing, I loved everything they made for my family and I, it was not only tasty, but it was extremely pleasing to the eye. The customer service was fantastic, and our waitress, Tamara was super friendly. Take the time out of your day to eat here. :)

Staff very friendly and accommodating, full gluten free menu safe for coeliac which is awesome. Desserts were delicious and the grilled fish and chips delicious. Only downfall is that the batter on the fried fish was very salty. Nonetheless will definitely be back.

Most disappointed with the service. Booked for 15 plus 7 children so they should have been organized better They closed the dining room bar off early when we were still drinking and we had to use the main bar. The food average. Steaks tough fish under cooked. Not enough staff. I booked 3 weeks in advance so they had plenty of warning. We are a mixture of locals and tourists. It has been a traditional birthday celebration venue for many years. (But not any more) Most disappointed.

Lovely building with friendly staff. Very busy (Sunday night). suggest booking a table. We are in the bar. The pork belly was delicious as was the flat bread and dips. The chicken snitz was average. Not bad but not great. The salad was pretty plain.

Lewis is by far the best asset of this place! His energy, his service, his respect towards everyone. He knows how to balance the place to guarantee a safe environment to have the best time!. He’s such a hard worker and his smile is on from 7 am until late night. Thank you Lewis for being you, keep shining bright and thank you for making us ( 10 girls) feel safe, welcomed and have the best party in town! Best drinks, best service, best atmosphere. Lewis deserve a pay rise!!!!

It was pretty good. The staff were friendly, the serving sizes were generous. The parma wasn't the nicest I've ever had but wasn't the worst either. Meals were probably slightly too expensive for what they were but not dramatically so. I'd probably go back again.

If you don’t want the best gluten free Parma or garlic bread you’ve ever had, along with brilliant service and amazing desserts, then Go somewhere else. The service and food were amazing, not just by gluten free, but by any pub food standards. We live five hours away so might not be back for a while, but we will be back! Thanks to the whole team for the amazing service!

Higher end prices compared to some of the other pubs in the area, but food not truly up to scratch. Chicken was very nice, but salt and pepper calamari tasted off. A nice point would be the amenities, nice toilets and a pool table to match. Would try the other places in town before the Vic Hotel again

Guy wanted to put me on a table I wasn't happy with. So what, yeah? But he was obviously taken aback and not comfortable with me questioning his table choice by the way he looked at me. He then rushed through the specials so quickly I couldn't understand him or comprehend what he said. Then he informed me as he rushed off there was no steak, which is what I was after. I then asked all steaks? and he replied "that's what I said wasn't it?". Unbelievable, I happily and promptly left and found a much more welcoming and warm pub across the road.

Great place to eat in Port Fairy. Service was friendly and efficient, every meal was tasty, including very yummy desserts, and the playroom sufficient to keep the kids occupied. Loved the menu, which catered for many food allergies/intolerances, and the quality did not suffer. Will definitely visit again.

Food was quite average - sweet BBQ sauce overpowered oysters Kilpatrick, risotto was adequate but not great, and schnitzel arrived so overcooked the edges were black (sent back). Was recommended an excellent bottle of Shiraz, though (which saved the night - West Cape Howe Shiraz, for anyone wondering), and the waitress was lovely. Getting 3 stars instead of 2 purely for the waitress and the wine.

Firstly the atmosphere is light, warm and inviting. The beer garden is a beautiful setting and lovely place to sit under the umbrellas if needed. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The meals are amazing - close to the best eye fillet I have ever had. Tuscan chicken was great also. Finished off with a sticky date pudding and copious amounts of wine from the impressive and extensive wine list. A more up-market and stylish pub. Prepared to pay a little more for the hospitality and amazing meals. Will be back regularly.

Booked for Monday night with 8 people 30 minutes before arrival and they had us sorted. Customer Service was professional and friendly. Open Fire place going, and the building is gorgeous.. Food was top quality . I had the Chicken Parma with Mash and Salad. Chicken Parma was cooked perfectly, Mash was Creamy and the Salad was generous.. The Gentleman that served me at the Bar was lovely and genuinely interested in our family holiday to Port Fairy, lovely local 😊 Definitely worth a visit...

Average at best. Grilled fish was ok, but the serving was pretty small for a main, and for the price. The smallish vegan hot pot @ $28 came out luke warm in the middle. I only noticed it after about 5 mouthfuls. I told the staff and they took it back to the kitchen. The kitchen re-heated the dish, and in doing so, the pieces of the crispy polenta that were sitting on top were now soggy and mashed into the meal itself. The average review is not so much for the fish meal, but for the blandish hot pot, and the fact that the kitchen thought it was ok to re-heat the meal, mash it all together, and then return it to me. Floor staff were lovely though!

A new friend and I popped in for a drink and lunch. There were no customers, but the lovely lady chef let us in. We were treated like special guests, the fire was put on for us and nothing was too much trouble. Because of the weather, and they were having trouble with the air conditioning they decided to not open, but we were welcome to stay. We both had the butter fish. It was delicious. I really appreciated the way we were treated, especially when they really didn’t want to be open. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Port Fairy.

Although it was a quiet day the staff were busy seting up for night trade. A great meal from the kitchen and good company with cold beer what more could you ask for .

2022 edit: Negligent security escorted a man to the rear of the premises after assaulting someone only to allow that man to walk to the front of the premises and carry out another assault that almost killed the victim, who was put into a coma and flown to Melbourne with a brain haemorrhage. 2018: Ridiculously overpriced food. Even if we’d all paid $10 less it would have still been disappointed. My steak was over cooked, burnt and the chips were partially raw. Save your cash and go anywhere else
