Would not return and will not recommend.
We went as a group for dinner, It’s very basic pub food. Most people enjoyed their dinner but there was a mix up with a few meals which ended with us being berated loudly by the server (Sarah) because we dared discussing the mix up. When I pointed out that my steak was in fact m/w and not m/r, the expectation was that I swap with the lady who had already started eating my meal. It was only when she started telling us off that there was any mention of a new meal. She then stormed in the kitchen started yelling and slammed the door. We were then left for the rest of our stay with no service and had to sit at our table with the dirty dishes after we had finished. As is our custom to have coffee and cake after we went up the road to the Royal Inn (where the service and food were fantastic)because it had put a dampener on the evening. To the defence of the management he listened to our complaint and said that he understood and would act on it. I know we all have bad days. But leave don’t bring it to work, because your bad service cost you repeat visits because a lot of us said we wouldn’t return. I’m giving this 2 stars purely for the people that enjoyed the food and the way management listened.
P.S salad is more than a heap of lettuce a slice of tomato and an onion ring.

Very pleasant pub. I went for lunch - bar is airy and light with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was good and service very prompt and friendly. Standard selection of beers but they do also have some craft beers in cans which save the day for me (Balter IPA).

The food is great quality. Big portions. No request is ever an issue. I eat there 2-3 days a week for the past year and have not had a bad meal yet. Must try 😊

The best steak in town. Cooked to perfection, melts in the mouth...fabulous flavour, no additions necessary. And on Wednesday nights, 2 for $24. Steaks come with vegies or chips & salad - also delicious!

Staff are nice but not very attentive…
When you manage to get their attention they are friendly but if you’re not “known to them” you are left waiting for service. Staff stand and sit (yes sit) talking to regulars for quite some time so as an “unknown” customer you are left waiting and waiting and…. you guest it .. waiting….
I am a local and come 2-4 time a month, most times there are different staff so my above comments are based on several experiences.
My latest experience is based on Wed 5th Apr from 6pm

Ordered 6 meals, asked for extra chips and no salad , didnt get extra chips which she charged me for and i got salad which i said that i didnt want, asked for no tomato on a burger as my friend has sensory problems with tomato, there was tomato on the burger, got a lunch special with peas and gravy, didnt get the peas or gravy so i went back up and she wanted to charge me for the gravy i had already paid for, asked for medium rare steak, i got medium (not a fan of medium) paid over $152 and all meals werent correct. Not sure whats going on in the kitchen there..food was ok bar all mistakes made.

Old school working class friendly pub. Rough around the edges at first glance but has a hidden gem in a brilliant kitchen out back.
Producing standard yet high grade flavor pub food with a slight American diner feel. The OG burger is smokey bacon jam heaven!!!! Worth a visit on it's own!
Fried chicken is awesome with traditional roasts on Sundays & plenty of English classics from welcoming English chef. 5 star food already loved by the locals, great beer garden & if seating is full or not to your liking takeaway is available. Soon to be legendary burgers. We will be back next time we are in Newcastle.

Nice old school suburban local. Top notch outdoor area for a couple of cold ones. Best bit is the food though. Nice pub menu with great burger section. Loved everything we've eaten here!

Just walked down for dinner and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere. The two English gents taking the orders made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Food was top shelf and the beer cold. Will be back again that's for sure.

It was great to be able to enjoy a meal.at our local pub bistro. No waiting time for service or tables. Comfortable and modern decor. We both had a surf n turf with chips and salad. So filling and satifying. Only thing is there were no desserts on offer. But we will be back and recommend eating here to others with families or young adults or couples.

I recently held an event at the Town Hall Hotel and was very happy with the service I received. I booked the bistro and an outdoor space and it was great! It made for a relaxed and enjoyable event. The bar staff were friendly and ensured our guests were never waiting too long for service. Disel, the chef, was very helpful in the lead up to the event. He answered any questions I had in a timely manner and gave me good advice when selecting food options and quantities. Everyone at the party commented on how delicious and plentiful the food was. We had a mix of seafood, chicken, party favourites and wraps platters and I can honestly say my guests did not have a bad word to say about one item on offer. Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the quality of food and service from the chef and his team. I would definitely recommend the Town Hall Waratah to anyone looking for a function space in Newcastle.

I love burgers. It is true. Mostly US style cheese burgers. I frequent all the known places in Newcastle and abroad for the best.
Town Hall is in my top 5 burgers of all time and the number 1 chicken burger ever. Hands down! I go out of my way every time to get my hands on one of these magnificent bad boys.
The butter milk chicken is so God dam spectacular I get two in my burger.
If you call yourself a burger man you have to try this out!

I haven't been here for years but I'm glad I did. Really good pub food, managable portion sizes and a good price. The restaurant is only small and our group had to sit back to back as there is insufficient space to have longer tables. It's great for smaller groups, about 16 in ours, and family friendly. Good service and acceptable wait times; meals were hot. There's a basic outdoor area and the restrooms were clean. Staff are lovely. There was some live Irish music that was terrific!

Hey check this place out, went for lunch and had the place to ourselves talk about great service and the food was well worth it, was worried when it was empty but it has just opened.
Good menu but we just got the lunch specials and I could not finish mine so two thumbs up from me.

Great atmosphere on a Friday night.
$24 for ribs and wings.. Meat fell off the bone and was so tender. Other meal was the barramundi special which was so tasty.
Definitely going back.

Don't park in the wrong car park. Free street parking for dinner time. There are so many entrance doors to the place. Order at the counter, and food was served promptly. We ordered beef and delight grilled chicken burgers ranging approx $20 each, served with chips each. Taste nice. Window view on the corner of the intersection.

Food was amazing, had lamb cutlets- absolutely delicious, hubby chicken schnitzel & nephew a chicken dish.
Both Bar & Kitchen Staff were welcoming and friendly

A lovely transformation to the renovated premises. From the last time I was here it has changed significantly.
Absolutely a wonderful place to dine and enjoy your time here.

A cool place to have dinner and spend the weekend. It is at the corner of the Station St Waratah. It has enough parking spots and nearby road side.
