White bull has been our family favourite pub to go to for the past 4 years. In the past 3 months we have noted a decline in attention to the food and the service. If this had been a “one off” we would not complain but now that prices have increased and menu options seem more sparse there is no excuse for this. We arrived at 5:15 and ordered when the kitchen opened so we didn’t order at a busy time. Table of 5. Hamburger was the last order placed on the table and it was very red. Couldn’t have been on the heat for more than a couple minutes in total. Ordered a medium rare Santa Maria and it was rare. Ordered a medium Santa Maria and it was medium rare. The rump and schnitzel was okay. The chips even were not as crunchy as normal. We ordered drinks twice and not one glass was removed from the table the entire night. Service now consists of delivering the plate to the table. Hint…if you are walking back to the kitchen you can take back some of the dirty empty glasses. Very disappointed and really hope they bring the quality and service back. For now I’ll be taking business elsewhere and cooking more at home.

We were there at 8.45pm and thought we had missed out, but orders were still open. The steaks were awesome and our meals came out really quickly. Could not fault them. Staff were lovely.

We were recommended this hotel by another local business and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We are staying in town and trying new places to eat. Unfortunately not many veg options so we had the Caesar without bacon and then a chicken schnitzel. The food came out very fast and was great. Red wine was nice. Venue got very busy so we were lucky to have got in there early. Lovely layout and staff

We were here to have a graduation celebration dinner and we give it 5×⭐️ all round. The restaurant was very busy but we didn't have to wait very long to enjoy our first class dinner. The portions were very generous and it was service with a smile all the way. We heartily recommend it.

We went for lunch, the linguine was overpriced & very bland. My cousin had the Parmigiana he said it was terrible, his partner had the fish & chips she only liked the chips. My daughter had the steak & she loved it. The staff were lovely. We won’t be eating there again. This was last Sunday.

We choose to stay in a nearby motel when we are passing through Armidale just so we are in easy walking distance of this pub. Very popular though. Even 5.30 pm on a Sunday there was a queue to order food but the staff impressed with their friendly efficiency. The food was yummy and the atmosphere was great. Will keep on visiting.

The pub is a nicely presented renovated old hotel. Excellent selection of drinks on tap. I had the Scotch fillet medium rare from the downstairs restaurant and it was excellent. One of the best I've had in a long time. The other diners in my party all really enjoyed their meals as well. I'd go back again.

The food was really good, the cocktails were nice but overall it is a bit on the expensive side.

Such a great little pub. It has really generous portions. I didn't even get through my whole meal and I was so full. Good selection of chicken, beef or fish with some gluten free and veggie options as well. Food came out very quickly and was cooked perfectly.

Stopped past for a meal on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly busy, which is always a good sign. We chose here over another venue due to the number of reviews and we made a good choice! Meals were out quick and were everything we wanted after a day on the road.

Stopped off on our way back from QLD…Nice pub…food was ok. I wouldn’t call it “Great pub food” …service was quick enough. Drinks weren’t available via the app ordering (only cocktails). Biggest problem I find with App ordering is the kitchen doesn’t read the dockets properly. I’ve asked for all sauces on the side…didn’t happen. It seems to happen often not just here!

Stopped in with the team for dinner while in town on a work trip. Popcorn Chicken, Crumbed Lamb Cutlets were incredible, and so were the Truffle Fries. Quite packed out and a long wait for a Monday night, but was worth it. Staff were friendly too.

So glad we were recommended going here! The food was delicious and a really decent portion as well! Not to mention they had REAL Iceburg lettuce in their salads instead of the horrible filler lettuce that everyone else seems to use & is usually wasted! The meals were served quickly and promptly by friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Paid $200 for food and drinks on an averagely busy lunch midweek. They took 40 minutes for us to enquire where our food was and then they told us there was an issue and the order has only just gone through. When I asked the staff to make it right, make an attempt to inform their customers of their mistake. They ignored the request, made us wait more and finally delivered the extremely average food. Might I say overpriced too.

Nice pub - my go to when in Armidale but quite disappointed with steak this time - was cooked correctly to medium rare - but was tough and chewy.

It was a last minute decision to go out and grab dinner. There was a storm and with camping we didn't want to head out in the bad weather. When we arrived here, it was right on closing of the brasserie. They still let us through and we had a wonderful meal leaving with full bellies and a smile. We ordered Leek & Potato Soup, Kids Fish & Chips, Chicken Schnitty, and Salt Pepper Calamari. Food came out within 10 of when we ordered. We left 30min after we arrived. Quick and efficient which is perfect when you have two tired kids in tow.

I travel to Armidale regularly and stay at the Rydges (for work). I have eaten at the Azka Restaurant many times and every time, I say never again. I decided to take a chance and take a leisurely stroll to the Whitebull Hotel. Well, no pretentious, overpriced food here folks. I had a 300 gram Scotch fillet, pepper sauce with veggies and mash. It was perfect. Washed down with a few cleansing ales, good night everybody!

I love country pub meals...enthusiastic apprentices, learning how to cook solid basics at the hands of seasoned, local food tradies...not here though. Here, we are subject to a sad, counter-style dormitory sponge, in the guise of a constructed meal. When the least problematic item on two plates is the Thai farmed barra fillet, you know you got 99 problems. The undercooked char-look eggplant hides in shame under a sauce that itself needs the pre processed molten rubber ("cheese product") to hide under. This sauce isn't the quality tinned tomato sugo, laced with garlic, onion, oregano and olive oil. It's more akin to the drained contents of 85c tinned spaghetti. The frozen beans could have been somewhat rescued from their random cutting and drowning, with some seasoned butter, or olive oil (dare I ask for caramelised onion?). And yet, they are left to fend for themselves next to pieces of sweet potato, seeming survivors of a mad machete attack by a random malevolent who happened to invade the kitchen a while back. They too are left "au natural"...in itself ironic. In a world where we look to the countryside as the last vestiges of a real world view, this place is a veritable knackery of cookery.

I had the lunchtime special steak for $23 and it was cooked perfectly. It even included a soft drink with table service and a smile. Very very high standard

I'd recommend a visit to this place. Had the lunch special. Steak, chips, salad with a middy of beer. Staff were all friendly.

Great steak. Good beers. We stopped in Armidale for the night and stumbled upon the White Bull. Glad we did.. Steaks were awesome, the Truffle fries to die for. Do yourself a favour and stop in. ❤️❤️

Good pub grub! Had the mixed grill which is value for money and allows you to sample a bit of variety. The steak was good but cooked a bit too much for my medium-rare order. Staff were friendly and the ambience is really good. A few desserts had run out so we had the sticky date pudding which was nice!

Found this pub while walking around Armidale. Food was excellent, staff were very friendly and the most important thing is the very wide selection of beers on tap. We came in for the $20 lunch special as shown below comes with a drink as well

Excellent quality of food. Very friendly staff. Make a reservation as this place is very popular. I went mid week at 5:30pm and had to wait for a table. Well worth the wait though

Chose the signature dish of grilled salmon with smashed chat potatoes, dutch carrots, asparagus with a lemon dressing. Sounds good but the issues were; potatoes were not chats, potatoes varied in how cooked they were from hard to sloppy soft, the other vegetables were overcooked. Two identical dishes were different in that one the fish was undercooked and the other it was slightly overcooked. The dressing was a piece of charred lemon. The chef was standing surreptitiously taking bites of food and munching away, we hoped not from our meals and the server kept pulling his bits through his shorts, three or four times, then brought us our food with same hand. Overall, disappointed. Nice enough place though for a beer or wine although the toilets were a bit on the nose.

Best pub in all of NSW! Food is always superb and service is wonderful! We always stop in on trips between Brisbane and Newcastle and this is our only go to. This year, we had our 19 month old daughter and the staff treated her like a Princess! We were so well looked after. Hubby had the steak 2 nights in a row and raves about it (and he’s hard to please!). I had the chicken ABC - and would have had a whole avo and mountains of bacon - unheard of! Night 2, I had the 3 cheese ravioli and once again, was treated to a delicious meal! Thanks Whitebull! (Photos: 3 cheese ravioli, chicken ABC with steak in background, chocolate mud cake with icecream and butterscotch sauce)
